People, Places and Plants Magazine

Let me recommend a great local magazine, People, Places and Plants, a magazine written by new Englanders for New Englanders. For the past six years it has been been produced in Falmouth, Maine.

Each issue is full of good regional information: articles about plants that grow well in New England, places to visit, people doing interesting and innovative things in the garden. This is a magazine that features real people who love plants, and is not full of gardens that require 6 gardeners to maintain. Each issue features a state-by-state calender that informs readers of workshops, classes, garden tours and other interesting events. And it is ORGANIC!

I am serving as their associate editor for Vermont and New Hampshire. One of my functions is to collect information for the calender of gardening events. So if you (or an organizations you are affiliated with) have an event coming up, please contact me by e-mailing me at gardening.guy@valley.net. We are looking for news about educational workshops, garden tours, flower shows, or interesting speakers.

People, Places and Plants comes out six times a year, and costs $19.95; subscriptions can be ordered from them by calling 1-800-251-1784 or going to their website, http://www.newenglandgardening.com. By subscribing, you get membership in the New England Gardening Club, which allows you to get a 10% discount on plants at participating garden centers.
