Meet Henry Homeyer—renowned garden expert, newspaper columnist, author and Vermont Public Radio commentator—to celebrate the start of a new growing season. Homeyer will demonstrate a sampling of his favorite garden tools and discuss how they can be used to make the most of your gardening practices. He will then answer questions and sign copies of his books, including his latest: Organic Gardening (not just) in the Northeast: A Hands-On Month-by-Month Guide. Following Homeyer’s talk, The Fells Landscape Assistant, Tressa Gaffney, will lead a workshop and on-site demonstration of proper pruning techniques and rejuvenation of neglected gardens. What better way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day than to focus on the “green” season that’s just around the bend! This program, which is open to all, is the first of a six-part series of hands-on gardening workshops being presented by the Sullivan County Master Gardeners in conjunction with the UNH Extension Service (Homeyer is also a UNH Master Gardener). This opening session will meet at the Lake Sunapee Protective Association’s Knowlton House, 63 Main Street. Sunapee NH.
